Kidney corals

September 13, 2009

Trudy O’Neill, a 45-year-old woman with short bowel syndrome, has at least three or four kidney stones a year and must either pass them through her urine or have them surgically removed. She collects the stones, which can be as large as 5 millimeters across and are shaped like coral.

They are not as pretty or as expensive as diamonds, but they are just as hard to come by.
